John recalls: This has been a team effort from the start. Doug had been encouraging me to do this book for years before I finally ‘relented’—but he respected the reasons (the time demands for many years of my home and family life) that I couldn’t take it on just yet. Then in early 2014, the time was finally ripe and ready and Doug and Lara gave me all the time and help I needed on the proposal and then to start writing, and they have been there whenever I’ve needed any help or advice since then.
This is what makes the difference for many of us—trying to do this without any help as some of my junior colleagues have lately (who have great books inside of them waiting to get out)—it just doesn’t happen. It is just not the same skill set and ability as writing rather condensed, academic style research or theoretical articles. Many of us do need a guide and the structure and experience Idea Architects lavishly provides, to be able to navigate the ‘first book’ waters. Not to mention the encouragement and support they provide, and have provided me, through every stage of the process.
